Choose the council for your address
Newcastle City Council is the starting point for Newcastle services such as council tax, waste collections and local libraries. Use your home address when looking for help with a council service. A postal address ending in Newcastle upon Tyne does not always mean a property is within the city council's boundary.
The wider directory catchment includes nearby communities in North Tyneside and Northumberland. Gateshead is a separate council area south of the river. Follow the authority responsible for your address rather than choosing a council from the business's postal town alone.
Find an activity you can return to
A regular class or club can make a place feel more familiar. Newcastle Arts Centre offers art courses and a programme of music and exhibitions. Blue Flames Sporting Club provides another starting point for sport and venue enquiries. Look at what interests you, then ask the organisation about joining and the facilities you need.
For families, Seven Stories and Ouseburn Farm have their own programmes. Their websites explain current activities, so you can choose a suitable visit without relying on an old event listing.
Support for people living with sight loss
Newcastle Vision Support works with blind and visually impaired people in the city. Its website describes practical support, activities and ways to get involved. Start with the organisation's general contact information so your enquiry can reach the appropriate member of the team.
Use the directory to make the connection
A listing gives you a route to the organisation itself. Before travelling, confirm the meeting location, booking arrangements and any access requirements. Community venues may host several independent groups, so name the activity you are asking about when you get in touch.
